112-bmore-moore-colorsDid 2012 give you the blues? Not the sad, somber harmonica-melody blues; or the kraft macaroni and cheese blues for that matter (although, we’re sure many of you had some of those blues, too).  We’re talking the beautiful hue of blue that was Benjamin Moore’s 2012 color of the year – Wythe Blue (HC-143) to be exact.

The soft blue hue –depicted here next to Pantone’s color of 2012 (the bold Tangerine Tango), may be old news to you, but we thought we’d briefly highlight it as a precursor to the introduction of Benjamin Moore’s newest color pick for 2013, in case you’re planning a paint job for your newest kitchen or bath remodel.

Do the blue

It’s no wonder the color was so popular this year – who doesn’t love a soft blue, especially when paired with neutral grays and browns?  Sorry newborn boys, this soft color isn’t for babies…it’s a grown-up timeless blue and can now be found as a part of Benjamin Moore’s Historic Collection.

A bright outlook for 2013

With the year drawing to a close (holy cow, is it almost Christmas?) it was time for a new sheriff to take order; and so a fresh color of the year has been chosen…and this color is anything but blue.  Lemon Sorbet – 2019-60 (shown here on our paint ideas Pinterest board) was the color choice for 2013.

It’s crisp, bright and refreshing.  Sharon Grech, a guest writer on Benjamin Moore’s Color Chats blog, was quoted saying, “Colour has the power to evoke a mood and yellow, in its many variations, represents optimism and light for 2013.”

Let’s hope she’s right – it’s no secret this economy could use a boost, and with the upcoming presidential election…who knows, maybe we’ll get one.  If all it takes is painting the town Lemon Sorbet – 2019-60, hand us a paint roller and some overalls…as long as we can still keep some Wythe Blue hue around, too.
